My name is Scott Gardner, and I am a Senior at St. Joseph's College in the huge town of Rensselaer, IN. I am originally
from New Lenox, IL, which is a southwest suburb of Chicago. I am a Physical Education Major and Secondary Education
Minor. Also, I play baseball for the St. Joe's Pumas. I plan on graduating in December of 2005 and hopefully teaching
and coaching at Lincoln-Way Central High School.
In my many years as being a student, I have seen many different teaching styles, but many of them had one thing in common.
That one aspect is that a lot of teachers/coaches lecture and discipline more than they do using time to support and encourage
their students/players. I have seen this style crush great students and athletes, and it has made them lose interest
in their classes, teachers, coaches, or activities. I will not let this happen to any of my students or players as an
educator or coach. My teachings will be based primarily on encouragement and rewards.
